About

The Student Life Communication Team supports various Student Life departments in engaging with students, faculty and staff, parents and families, and the broader community. As a Photo/Social Media Video Student Assistant, you will begin by creating engaging social media video content and gradually transition into capturing high-quality photos and videos to support broader communication goals. This role offers hands-on experience in digital storytelling, content editing, and file management, all within a collaborative and creative team environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting full-time staff with photo and/or video shoots

  • Capturing photo and video content independently

  • Managing and organizing our photo/video database (i.e. accurately naming file paths, keywording, removing duplicate shots, etc.)

  • Editing photo and videos using Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Communicating with full-time staff regarding projects using our project management system

Required Skills

  • Must be a current CU Boulder student in good academic and judicial standing

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals

  • Must take initiative, follow instructions, be flexible, accept feedback and punctual Experience with professional photo and video equipment

  • Experience using Adobe applications (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Spark) or other photo or video editing applications

  • Experience filming and editing photos and short-format videos

  • Experience using social media platforms and features on a regular basis, especially Instagram and/or TikTok

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with capturing audio

  • Familiarity with Canon Cameras

  • Storytelling or story board development

  • Pursuing a degree in communications, digital media, film, marketing, advertising journalism or a closely related field

  • Experience importing and organizing video and photo content

Work Schedule

10 hours per week. A consistent work schedule will be established based on available hours Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Nights and weekend availability required for event photo/video coverage
